GLENS FALLS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Glens Falls is getting $10 million to revitalize the downtown area, create jobs, and boost the local economy.

It’s the first community in the Capital Region to win Governor Andrew Cuomo’s revitalization initiative.

The award includes up to $300,000 in planning funds to go toward a strategic investment plan, which will focus on economic development, transportation and housing, and community projects.

“As an emerging destination for business and culture in the Capital Region, downtown Glens Falls has seen remarkable growth in population and economic opportunities,” Governor Cuomo said. “This grant will continue that trajectory by attracting businesses, expanding employment opportunities, and transforming the downtown area into a thriving and inviting urban center. With this funding, Glens Falls will continue to foster its vibrancy and help the region’s development for generations to come.”

The plans for those projects should be completed sometime next year.
