SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Poughkeepsie man is facing multiple weapons charges after police began investigating a report of shots fired. The alleged incident took place around 11:30 p.m. on December 16 on Fish Creek Road in the town of Saugerties.

Local police were first on scene and reported to New York State troopers there were no injuries but multiple vehicles were observed leaving the scene. Troopers noticed one of the vehicles at a local Speedway and were granted permission to search the vehicle.

Inside, police said they found a loaded Springfield 9mm handgun containing a 15-round magazine. Sixteen rounds of ammunition were also found under the passenger seat. Zaccai Curtis, 20, was identified as the passenger and arrested on the charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree.

He was arraigned and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash, a $100,000 bond, or a $150,000 partially secured bond. The investigation found that the gun was not involved in the shooting but was not legally owned.
