ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A man is in critical condition after allegedly being attacked with a sword on the 300 block of Sheridan Avenue in Albany. The Albany Police Department said Randell Mason, 42, of Albany, was arrested in connection with the incident.
On August 29 around 1:45 p.m., officers responded to the Capital Connections Drop-In Center for reports of an assault. After they arrived, officers found a 34-year-old man who has severe wounds and was bleeding out. He was treated on scene and then brought to Albany Medical Center.
Officers then found the suspect, Mason, walking nearby and took him into custody. Police determined that Mason struck the victim several times with a sword while in the building.
Mason has been charged with second-degree attempted murder. He is set to be arraigned on Tuesday in Albany City Criminal Court.
