SPEIGLETOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Search and rescue crews recovered a body from the Hudson River Thursday afternoon. Sources confirmed to NEWS10 that the man has died. It was later released by NYSP that the man was Zachary Esposito, 27, of Halfmoon.
Around 2:30 p.m., multiple crews were called to River Road in Speigletown for a man who was fishing when he fell out of the boat and into the river. The New York State Police Underwater Recovery Unit and Aviation Unit assisted in the search.
Speigletown Fire Chief Lawrence Funk shared a message for those who decide to go down near the water.
“They just need to be prepared and understand the seriousness of being along the river banks and take care of themselves and protect themselves when they are down through here.”
