BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Governor Baker gave his daily update on coronavirus in the Commonwealth and as we inch closer to the start of the phased reopening, he is focused on public health measures more than ever before.
The Governor is expected to release a full phased reopening plan for Massachusetts on Monday but he says the public will play a huge role in which industries will open first and how they move through the phases.
Earlier this week we got a glimpse at the state’s phased reopening plan, which listed four key steps that each industry will have to hit. They are: Start, Cautious, Vigilant, and The New Normal.
Governor Baker said that as businesses begin to reopen and move through the four phases, it will be crucial that residents follow public health guidelines.
“It’s important to remember that we have plenty of things we can do in this fight against the virus, in fact it’s pretty much the only way the Commonwealth can move forward and it will require everybody to continue to play their part.”Governor Baker
The Governor is asking everyone to continue to wear their masks when in public places and practice social distancing. This is what health experts say will help to prevent a second wave of the virus.
The Department of Public Health reported that there are now 82,182 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Massachusetts, including 5,482 deaths as of Thursday.
22News will be on-air and live streaming Baker’s address on Monday where he is expected to outline which industries will be opening, and he will also be making a decision about extending or ending the stay at home advisory.
