Cops: Man turns self in, admits growing dozens of pot plants

WOODBOURNE, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say a man has been jailed after telling police he was growing dozens of marijuana plants in his Catskills home.

The Times Herald-Record of Middletown reports police in Fallsburg in Sullivan County say 35-year-old Ryan Minga called them Tuesday evening and said he believed a SWAT team was coming for him.

Police say they found 40 marijuana plants at his home in the hamlet of Woodbourne and a gram of cocaine.

Minga has been charged with a pair of felony drug charges and an additional misdemeanor drug charge.

Minga remains jailed Thursday on $7,500 bail. He’s expected in court at a later date. It couldn’t immediately be learned from authorities if he has an attorney.
