HILLSDALE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Law enforcement agencies are continuing to investigate the fatal crash in Hillsdale on Tuesday night. Police have confirmed that Landon Delease, 17, of Hillsdale, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined that Delease was driving northbound on Hunt Road when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, left the roadway, and crashed into a tree. Delease and a passenger, Richard Jennings III, 17, of Hillsdale, were ejected from the vehicle.

Jennings III was transported to the Albany Medical Center by Albany Med Flight and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators believe that speed is a contributing factor in the crash. There are no apparent signs of drugs or alcohol.

Several members of the public stopped to provide aid and contacted Columbia County 911.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, uniform NYSP Troopers, CC Coroner Michael Blasi, the Hillsdale Fire Department, and the Community Rescue Squad.
