SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York State police arrested a Clifton Park woman they say shoplifted from a Walmart over the course of a 4 hour long shopping spree.
Police say on Saturday, May 21, around 1 p.m., Loss Prevention Staff at the Walmart on Old Gick Rd. in the town of Wilton contacted the New York State Police about an incident involving Jessica Miller, 35, of Clifton Park.
The Walmart staff said they had been observing a Miller shop throughout the store with an infant for approximately four hours, during which time she filled her cart with various food items and merchandise.
Walmart staff says Miller then went to a register to pay for some, but not all of the items in her cart.
After the transaction, Miller allegedly asked a Walmart employee at the customer service desk to watch her cart. Miller claimed she had forgotten her debit card and needed to leave the store to find her husband to purchase the rest of the items in the cart.
After Miller left, police say the associate looked through the items in the cart and found that Miller had opened and taken, or eaten several items. The total value of the items taken or consumed totaled was just over $25.
Police say Miller was arrested and charged with Misdemeanor Petit Larceny, and released on an appearance ticket. She is due back in Wilton Town Court in June.
