Four people hospitalized after pedestrian accident in Corning

CORNING, N.Y. (WETM) – On Wednesday morning a truck accident involving four pedestrians occurred near E. Pulteney Street and Center Way in Corning around 8:13 a.m.

Corning Police Chief Jeff Spaulding tells The Leader that the driver of the delivery truck was a 23-year-old male. The identity of the man has not yet been publicly identified and the truck was delivering mail, but is not associated with USPS.

Two people were air-lifted to Strong Memorial Hospital from a Corning-area hospital and two were transported by AMR to Strong Memorial Hospital, according to Corning Police.

The victims’ range from 7 months to 24-years-old.

According to The Leader, the truck was traveling eastbound on East Pulteney Street, turning left onto State Route 414 (Centerway) toward Interstate 86 prior to the accident near the Corning Museum of Glass.

Corning Police say that the investigation is continuing at this time and more information will be released at a later date.
