(NEWS10) — Looking to celebrate National Avocado Day? How about some free guacamole!

Chipotle will be giving out one free topping of guacamole with the purchase of any regular-priced item on their app or website on Wednesday, July 31.

The fast-food chain also said that the offer can be used for any entree that is redeemed as a Chipotle Rewards meal.

Unions sue over paid coronavirus quarantine leave

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - The New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) and the New York State Correctional Officers and Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA) have both filed lawsuits regarding their members' access to paid coronavirus quarantine leave. The PEF is suing three state agencies: the Department of Civil Service (DCS), the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) and the Office of Mental Health (OMH), claiming the state has "irrationally and improperly deprived union members of their guaranteed right to paid COVID-19 quarantine leave."

Citing a policy issued by the Governor's Office of Employee Relations in March 2020, the PEF claims its members who have been placed in mandatory quarantine by state or local health officials are entitled to paid leave without charge to accruals, for all workdays within a two-week period.

Gloversville schools prepare for potential remote learning

GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- With the possibility of mandated COVID-19 testing coming to schools throughout New York State, one local school district is getting a head start on preparing for in-school testing.

New York State requires mandated coronavirus testing for any school that resides in a designated red or orange micro cluster zone. The Gloversville Enlarged School District is expecting its first shipment of rapid tests this week and has started reached out to families asking for signatures on permission slips to test students.

Empire State Weekly Vaccination Efforts and New Legislative Session

(NEWS10) — State officials are pleading with the federal government to send more doses of COVID-19 vaccine to New York, as millions are now eligible - but only a few hundred thousand are getting theirs per day.
