TUCSON, Ariz. (CNN) – Two former Arizona television reporters accused of child abuse after their child tested positive for cocaine faced a judge.

Krystin Rae Lisaius admitted to breastfeeding her child 12 hours after ingesting cocaine. She says she didn’t think it would be harmful.

Oro Valley police say 26-year-old Krystin and husband Somchai Lisaius, 42, were indicted on charges of possession of a dangerous drug, drug paraphernalia and child abuse on June 9.

Krystin and Somchai Lisaius both pleaded not guilty to felony child abuse charges.

“It would be a gross, gross, gross injustice if even the mention of prison time. I anticipate they will demonstrate that they have learned a very hard, embarrassing lesson and that this will become a footnote in their life, not a chapter,” Attorney Michael Piccarreta said.

The child is currently staying with her maternal grandmother. Krystin is allowed 24-7 visitation, but Somchai is only allowed 12 hours per day.

The couple is due back in court next month.
