Annual Uncle Sam Day Parade won't take place in Troy

Web staff - TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A more than 40-year tradition in Troy will not continue this year.

The Uncle Sam Day Parade through Troy's Lansingburgh neighborhood will not take place.

Organizers said turnout has dropped in recent years, and they weren't able to raise enough money to put on the event. It takes about $25,000 to put on the parade.

The Uncle Sam Pageant and Citizen of the Year Awards will still be held.
