All but 1 of NY state's 90 pools and beaches open for season

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York parks officials say all but one of their 90 swimming pools and beaches are open and will now be operating full-time for the summer season.

Parks Commissioners Rose Harvey and Howard Zucker had planned to mark the first weekday of operations at Peerless Pool in Saratoga Spa State Park on Monday, coinciding with summer vacation from New York's public schools.

But parks officials say Monday morning that the event has been canceled because the pool remains closed due to power outages from severe weather over the weekend. The Peerless Pool complex, popular with children, has a water slide, main pool the size of a football field and kiddie pool.

According to the parks office, admission costs $2 for adults, $1 for children and $8 for vehicles.

The Victoria Pool in the park costs $8 for adults and $4 for children.
