LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A number of athletes hit the mat for 24-hour jiu-jitsu training.

The ‘Roll-A-Thon’ took place on Saturday at Renzo Gracie Academy in Latham.

For the second year, instructors held training sessions all night for people of all ages, along with holding raffles and selling tee-shirts, all to raise money for Make-A-Wish Northeast New York.

“The inspiration came from my wife’s own battle,” said event organizer Rich Harris. “A group of students did, they all asked, ‘When are we doing it again?’”

Harris says the goal is to hold the event every year, helping a different charity event each year.

This year’s event will go through the night until 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
