Nicol comes to the Capital Region from WHBF in Rock Island, IL where she was the weekend anchor and a reporter. While in the Quad Cities, Nicol covered a variety of stories in Illinois and Iowa. She had the unique opportunity to interview several presidential candidates in preparation for the Iowa caucuses. Beyond the political experience, Nicol also spent two weeks flying with the Medforce Helicopter Crew, she got a rare “behind the scenes” tour of John Deere’s World Headquarters and she spend several months covering a murder trial in the area that drew national attention.
Nicol is excited to be back in the Northeast and closer to family and friends in New England. She grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Boston University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She began her career at WHDH in Boston, MA. She spent three years working as a writer and field producer. While in Boston, Nicol helped with coverage of the 2004 Democratic National Convention, the 911 anniversary and the 2000 Presidential debate. Her experience in Boston helped her land her first reporting job at KREX/KREY in Montrose, CO. There she was a bureau anchor and reporter for one year.
In addition to her interest in news, Nicol is also an accomplished figure skater. She has participated in regional, national, and collegiate competitions. She has also taken up running and completed her first marathon in September of 2007. In her free time, Nicol enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, daughters Ella and Avery, son Kellan, and dog Tucker.
