Crews save Moreau man trapped in car after I-87 crash

MOREAU, N.Y. -- State Police say they are investigating a rollover car accident on the off-ramp of I-87 at exit 17.

Police say at 11:00am on Saturday, they received a report that a small white car had crashed on the southbound exit ramp at 17N of I-87.

When troopers arrived, they located the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an 84-year-old man from Moreau trapped behind the steering wheel.

The Moreau Fire Department, with assistance from the Wilton Fire Department, was able to safely pull him out of the vehicle.

The driver was treated at the scene and transported to the Glens Falls Hospital where he was treated for a head injury and minor cuts and scrapes.

State Police say unsafe speed was the primary cause of the accident.

The exit ramp remained open during most of the incident.
