State Police arrest teens involved in rock throwing incidents

ROTTERDAM, N.Y. - State Police have arrested two juveniles for throwing rocks onto commercial vehicles from the Rynex Corners Road overpass.

According to authorities, four large commercial trucks had their windshields broken by large rocks while they were traveling eastbound on the Thruway on June 23.

On August 17, another large commercial truck had its windshield broken by a large rock in the same area as the previous incidents. Following the incident, the driver immediately pulled over and saw two people running from the area.

State Police asked the public to help them find those responsible for the rock throwing incidents. They say the public did help identify the two juveniles who allegedly committed the crimes.

The first suspect is a 15-year-old male from Rotterdam Junction and the second is a 16-year-old male from Princetown. Both suspects were charged with four counts of reckless endangerment in the second, a misdemeanor and four counts of criminal mischief in the fourth a misdemeanor.

They will be arraigned in Rotterdam Town Court in September.
