COLONIE, N.Y. – Police say they are investigating an overnight home invasion which injured two people in the Town of Colonie.

Colonie Police are investigating the home invasion burglary that occurred on Monday at 11:45 p.m. on the first floor of 2627 Third Ave.

The male resident told police that he was investigating a noise that he heard from outside when he was approached by three black males and was struck in the head with a silver handgun.

The 56-year-old victim fell to the ground and told police that he saw two of the suspects enter his apartment while the third suspect stood over him.

The men that entered the apartment were observed to be looking around and moving items inside.  The victim then yelled to the 53-year-old female resident, who was inside the apartment, to get out of the building. She was able to flee.

Police say the suspects fled the scene after the female resident left the apartment.

The victim said he found the female on the lawn next door and she was bleeding from a head injury.  It is unknown at this time how the female sustained the injury, but it appears that she suffered blunt force to the back of her head. She was admitted to Albany Medical Center Hospital and her condition is unknown, but not believed to be life threatening, according to Colonie Police.

The male victim also suffered a head laceration, but was treated and released from Albany Medical Center.

Nothing was reported to be stolen from the residence.

Colonie Police say this was not a random incident and the male resident stated that the suspects were looking for marijuana and/or cash and that he may be familiar with at least one of the suspects.  According to police, the male resident has stopped cooperating with the investigation.  The female resident has not been able to be interviewed due to her medical treatment.

Police say one suspect is described as a black male in his 20s wearing a red hooded sweat. A second suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, tall, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt. And the third suspect is described as a black male, stocky build, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the crime or the identity of the suspects is urged to contact the Colonie Police Department at 783-2744.
