RENSSELAER, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute football held a media day Monday.
RPI head football coach Ralph Isernia has been with the Engineers for a full year and has had a considerable amount of time with a lot of the guys on the squad.
Fifteen starters are returning among 37 letter winners, so the feeling at summer camp was a lot more comfortable this year than last season.
“It's not like our first go around, so compared with this year and last year, I happen to think we're light years ahead of where we were,” Isernia said. “As fare as a team standpoint, coaching standpoint, putting the system, getting that stuff going was a whole lot easier this year certainly than last year.”
“It's much better,” Jay Yaskanich said. “It's like everything's light years ahead of last years. Last year we were just trying to get the feel of everything. This year we're much more prepared and ready to go.”
RPI will enter this season with a starting quarterback already named. Jeff Avery will be the go-to guy under center.
