SUNY campuses to receive funding to combat drug overdoses

Posted:
ALBANY, N.Y. - Thousands of dollars in funding will be available in the 2014-2015 school year to prevent drug overdoses at SUNY campuses, including UAlbany

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is spearheading an effort to provide $27,000 to 11 SUNY campuses, including UAlbany, in order to equip more police officers with naloxone.

Naloxone is a heroin antidote that can instantly reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

UAlbany officers have already undergone training to administer naloxone and many officers on campus already carry the drug.
