State Police arrest two, seek a third in Berlin larceny

BERLIN, N.Y. - State Police have arrested two people after a reported larceny in progress complaint in Berlin.

On Monday, Troopers were called to the complaint on Bly Hollow Road in the Town of Berlin. When they arrived, Troopers located two subjects stealing items, including car batteries, from a scrap yard.  

Police say that the subjects had also broken a fence to gain access to the property and caused damage to vehicles owned by the person who reported the incident. 

According to authorities, Lloyd Burdick, 34, and Samantha Gates, 31 were arrested on the scene. A third subject is being sought in connection with the thefts as well. 

Burdick and Gates were found in possession of a controlled substance which was located in the vehicle Burdick was operating. 

The pair was charged with trespassing, petit larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic needle.
