TROY, N.Y. - Local officials gathering in Troy unveiled a new state-of-the-art mobile health unit.
The unit is described as a self-contained medical office on wheels. It will provide primary care services throughout the Capital Region.
First, the unit will be in the Lansingburgh School District, used to provide care to 1,500 students and their families who otherwise might not have access to healthcare at all.
"It provides services to those people in our community who really need our help the most and as I went into that van earlier I thought of what it would be like to travel to some of these communities," said John Bennett, MD.
Lansingburgh students will receive enrollment information at the beginning of the school year.
