Gloversville woman in critical condition after being choked


GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. – Police are investigating a domestic incident after a man admitted to choking his girlfriend.

Officials responded to 103 Park Street for a report of domestic violence with an unconscious victim on Saturday night.

When they arrived, 30-year-old Chauncey McCabe of 103 Park Street told police he had been involved in an altercation with his girlfriend and he had defended himself.

After further investigation, officers found a 23-year-old female, lying on the floor unresponsive with obvious signs of being choked.

Officers arrested McCabe and immediately called for ASFC and GFD who had staged in the area waiting for the scene to be secured.

The female was transported to Nathan Littauer Hospital and then transferred to Albany Medical Center where she is currently in critical condition.

McCabe was charged with assault and is being held for arraignment. Anyone with any further information on this incident is asked to contact Gloversville Police at 773-4506 or 736-2100.

Gloversville police are expected to release any additional information on Monday.
