CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – A Ballston Spa man says his life has changed, as he tried to help a man that was stuck in a burning car.
Adam Myers says he had just finished a game of golf at the Barney Road Golf Course in Clifton Park when he witnessed a horrific car crash on Friday night.
"Honestly, it was traumatic. You see these things on the news or in the movies and stuff, but this time it happened to me,” said Myers.
Myers says he is still very upset and shocked by what he saw.
"A car passed me smoking. It looked like the inside of the cabin, so I knew something wasn't right."
Myers says he ran towards the car as it crashed into a nearby pond and burst into flames. He says another witness did the same.
"Two of us together opened up the driver’s side door and flames shot out at us. There was a driver inside, a gentleman. He was on fire and we pulled him out," said Myers.
According to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office, the accident happened at around 8p.m. and the driver was severely injured.
Myers says had it been seconds later, he and the other man who rushed in to help could have been hurt too.
"It ended up exploding even more. I’m so thankful that somebody else was there because as I said, there's no way one of us would have gotten him out alone,” Myers said.
Officials are not identifying the man that was in this crash or what his condition is at this time. The investigation is ongoing.?
