$1.5 Million up for grabs in this year's Whitney Handicap

SARATOGA SRPINGS, N.Y. -- One of the most anticipated races of the season kicks off today at the Saratoga Race Course.

The Grade One Whitney Handicap race will carry the biggest purse it has ever seen in history, coming in at $1.5 million.

The nine horses in Saturday's field represent a mixture of thoroughbreds, including former Travers Day champions, Will Take Charge and Golden Ticket. Also joining the race is the odds on favorite to win, Palice Malice, who took home the Belmont trophy last year. In fact, four of the top five finishers of last year’s Travers race will face off again today.

Fans will have a chance to win a VIP experience and a one of a kind Saratoga jacket as part of a special “Fan of the Day” contest.

For a chance to win, follow @TheNYRA on Twitter and then tweet by using the hashtag, "#Whitneyfan".
