Around 8:30p.m. the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a possible drowning victim near Pine Hollow Road.

Police say the victim, Arthur T. Merchant from Scotia, had fallen into the water while docking the pontoon boat that he was operating.  Three other passengers that were on the boat were already on shore when Merchant fell into the water.

Sheriff’s deputies, Providence Fire, Edinburgh Fire, Galway Fire, Corinth Fire, South Glens Falls Fire, Edinburgh EMS and Galway EMS all responded to the scene.

Officials say divers entered the water and located Merchant in approximately 20 feet of water near the pontoon boat.
