TROY, N.Y. - A local church is stepping in to help find those responsible for a string of crimes that occurred in Troy and Lansingburgh over the weekend.
Victory Christian Church is offering a $1,000 reward for the arrest of the person responsible for setting the string of suspicious fires in Lansingburgh on Monday morning.
A total of six fires were set in vacant homes, a car and piles of garbage. The fires were all within feet of sleeping residents.
Police have increased patrols in the area and the city has asked residents to call 911 if they see anything out of the ordinary.
The church is also offering another $1,000 reward for the arrest of the person who killed 16-year-old Eshane Walker. Police say Walker was stabbed Friday night on the 400-block of Second Avenue.
Walker later died as a result of his injuries at St. Mary's Hospital.
Police have not released any details on a possible suspect or suspects.
