GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - A private gun range in a suburban New York City town where a woman was injured will be shut down after losing its lease.
Consolidated Edison tells the Journal News (http://lohud.us/1rj4TUi ) it has to cancel the lease to the land occupied by the Westchester County Police Revolver and Rifle.
The range came under criticism after a stray bullet grazed the leg of a woman in a neighboring yard on June 12. Neighbors called for the range to be shut down. It's located within shooting distance of the middle school playground.
The decades-old range is not affiliated with any police agency.
Consolidated Edison has leased the land to the range since 1957. Spokesman Sidney Alvarez says the lease will be terminated in 30 days.
