Troy police on the lookout for suspect involved in an early morning police chase

Posted: Updated:

TROY N.Y. -- Police remain on the lookout for a suspect involved in a police chase which resulted in a crash Thursday morning.

The chase began in Watervliet around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning when officers in Watervliet spotted a vehicle reported stolen by authorities in Troy.

Watervliet police say they attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply which led police on a short chase from Watervliet through the city of Troy.

During the chase, the van brought down three utility poles, knocking out power for residents in the immediate area including the fire house on 5th Avenue.

The suspects fled the moving vehicle just before it crashed into a Troy home. The police pursuit continued on foot where authorities caught two of the three suspects. The search continues for the third.

This morning crews were trying to get the van out of the home. There are no reported injuries or anyone inside the house, and National Grid is on scene trying to assess the damage from the crash.
