State Police arrest man after walking away from DWI crash

MOHAWK, N.Y. – The New York State Police arrested a Palatine Bridge man after he crashed his vehicle and walked away.

Police said 23-year-old Stephen Moshier crashed his car early Sunday morning and abandoned the vehicle in the westbound lane blocking traffic on Stone Arabia Road. Moshier was later arrested when police found him at a friend’s house on the same road he crashed his vehicle.

Moshier admitted in a police interview he consumed seven to eight beers and three shots of liquor at his friend’s house during a graduation party hours before the time of the incident, according to police. He then allegedly got into his vehicle and attempted to drive home when he drove into a ditch at the end of the driveway.

Police said friends helped Moshier push his car out of the ditch, and Moshier got behind the wheel despite his friends’ objections. He then crashed again a short distance down the road, according to police.

Police said Moshier told them he left his car in the road after crashing it a second time because he didn’t know what else to do. Troopers found Moshier asleep on the floor at his friend’s house where the party was held, according to police.

Mosher’s BAC was .11 percent. He is scheduled for arraignment on July 23.
