Adirondack Flames announce new coach

GLENS FALLS, N.Y. – The Glens Falls Civic Center will house a new hockey team this winter, and the Adirondack Flames officially announced its new head coach Monday.

Ryan Huska was introduced as the man that will lead the Flames into battle. This will be Huska’s first coaching position in the American Hockey League. He said his experience as a developmental teacher will translate well with the young guys that come into the AHL.

Huska is a former professional player and has played some games in the Capital Region. His initial memories of Glens Falls included a restaurant and a lot of snow, but he said he’s starting to remember a lot more, including the passionate fans.

“This is a hockey community and hockey city with a great hockey tradition, and we’re thrilled to be there,” Assistant General Manager Brad Pascall said. “We know the fans here are great fans. Some of the loudest fans in the American Hockey League, and yeah, we can hardly wait to get started.”

“Yeah, it caught me a little off guard,” Huska said. “As I said, usually press conferences are just a few media where I’ve been from. So it was neat to see all the fans around, and I think that goes to show you the quality of market this is in regards to being passionate about their hockey team. There’s a great hockey tradition here, and we want to make sure we’re leaving a positive footprint in that area.”

The Flames have already sold about 1,050 season tickets.
