SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - U.S. Women's Soccer star Abby Wambach, was in Schenectady over the weekend.
The Olympic gold medalist was at the Schenectady JCC to help them break ground on their new play area. Wambach, an MVP health care wellness ambassador, spoke to the more than 150 children in attendance about the importance of being active. She then took time to sign autographs and host a clinic.
The 2015 Women's World Cup is right around the corner and the U.S. striker is hoping to get back to the title game where they felt short in 2011.
"Watching the World Cup has just brought so much motivation into my heart and seeing the reception that these guys have been getting from our country just brings me even to another level of motivation in terms of bringing home the World Cup. I've never won one so I know everybody on my team is excited and hopefully everyone can rally behind my team next summer," said Wambach.
