HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (AP) - Huntington Hospital on Long Island is proposing to expand its emergency room with a new $50 million wing.
The 2-story addition would be connected to the existing 5-story building.
The hospital says the expansion will more than double the size of its emergency department.
Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1oxFsYS ) reports that construction is expected to begin early next year and completed a year later.
Funding for the expansion will come from multiple sources, including philanthropy.
The community hospital is a member of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.
