GREENE, N.Y. (AP) - State police have arrested the former Village of Greene police chief on several counts, including the theft of two police department rifles.
43-year-old Steven Dutcher was arrested Thursday is due in village court on July 22. He's charged with three counts of grand larceny, two counts of official misconduct, and one count each of petit larceny, falsifying business records, and offering a false instrument for filing.
Officials say Dutcher allegedly also stole a police department vehicle dog cage and is accused of buying four tires and a vacuum cleaner for his personal use with village funds, then filing a false receipt with the village for the purchase of the tires.
Dutcher was originally arrested in April for petit larceny and harassment.
The latest arrest follows a two-month state police investigation.
