ALBANY, N.Y.—The state is sending out a reminder as more people are looking to put their boat in the water.
Officials are hoping to prevent the spread of potentially harmful invasive plant and animal species in New York.
The state is asking boaters to clean their boats both before they put it into the water and after.
In an effort to get the word out, this is the state’s first invasive species awareness week.
Beginning this week, and over the next two summers, officials will have trained employees stationed at various launch sites to help boaters conduct voluntary checks.
