STOUGHTON, Mass. (AP) - A Sharon man has been held on $10,000 bail after pleading not guilty to striking and killing a college student out jogging last month.
Jeffrey Bickoff was arraigned Wednesday on charges including motor vehicle homicide and driving with a suspended license stemming from the June 15 death of 20-year-old Haley Cremer of Sharon.
Prosecutors say Cremer, a Simmons College student, was thrown 78 feet by the impact after she had stopped to talk to a friend.
Bickoff is not facing drunken driving charges, but prosecutors say he had consumed three rum and Cokes at a restaurant in the hours before the accident.
His court-appointed attorney says Bickoff passed field sobriety tests.
Police say Bickoff stayed at the scene and was distraught.
