BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A former New York bank auditor has been sentenced to a year in prison for diverting $42,000 in bank funds to her personal account.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Buffalo said Wednesday that 34-year-old Nicole Pompey of the suburb of Cheektowaga also must pay restitution to HSBC Bank.
Authorities say the fraud occurred over a two-year period beginning in December 2008. They say Pompey used her position as auditor to manipulate teller accounts, transferring funds to a personal account she opened in her maiden name.
