ALBANY, N.Y. - Children in Albany are getting a chance to learn some swimming skills.
The "Learn-to-Swim" program is taking place at Lincoln Park Pool in Albany. It is a free, two-week program designed to teach swimming and water safety skills to children in grades kindergarten to sixth.
About 150 kids are taking part in the program.
"All you have to do is see these kids in the water and, I like to say as a mom, you never see a crabby kid in a pool there's just something about being able to swim, learning a new skill and having the interaction with the Red Cross, they volunteer their time to work with these kid and it just shows that we are investing in them," said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan.
Sheehan says this is a great opportunity for people in the city to have their kids learn a new skill.
