LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. – The funeral services for the teen, who was killed in a bus accident over the holiday weekend, have been announced.
Hunter Scofield was a 15-year-old river guide with Tubby Tubes.
On Saturday afternoon, the Tubby Tubes bus that Scofield was on, overturned with 33 other people on board at the intersection of Thomas and River Roads.
The Hadley-Lazerne High School student has been described as a great kid who was athletic, bright, and kind. His obituary stated that he was a member and co-class presidents of Hadley-Luzerne Class of 2015.
A small makeshift memorial has been set up at the crash site for Scofield.
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, which also injured one passenger. However, State Police say that an initial investigation points to a mechanical problem with the bus.
Visitation services will be held on Wednesday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Haldey Luzerne Wesleyan Church. The funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the church.
July 17 would have been Scofield’s 16th birthday. The family told NEWS10 ABC that they will hold a balloon launch to honor Scofield on his birthday.
