ALBANY, N.Y. -- Crews are busy Thursday setting up for Friday’s fireworks display at the Empire State Plaza.
Although storms are predicted for Thursday, pyro technician’s say it won't affect the event.
Alonzo Fireworks out of Mechanicville has been overseeing the fireworks show at the Empire State Plaza for well over 15 years now. It takes months of preparation, and every year, the team tries to make it more interesting for the spectators.
And this Fourth of July, they will be using a new firing system that they debuted last year.
On Thursday, crews were unloading and hammering away, putting together racks where about 10,000 firework shells will be placed for the 31 minute show.
Fireworks begin at 9:15 Friday night, but there will be a Fourth of July event that will start at 3 p.m. and go all day. But no glass, alcohol or hard-sided coolers are allowed.
