Ballston Lake residents still cleaning up from Tuesday evening storm

BALLSTON LAKE, N.Y. – Some Capital Region residents had to clean up from Tuesday’s night’s storm, just in time for more severe weather on Wednesday.

On Tuesday evening, heavy winds ripped through Powers Lane Road in Ballston Lake, causing a pine tree to snap in two onto a person’s lawn, taking down power lines with it. Neighbors say they lost power around 7:30 p.m. when the storm hit and even though electric crews quickly arrived to the scene, some are still in the dark.

Residents say the storm was brief, it only lasted about five minutes, but the damage was severe.

Chris Mager says his property has the most damage. Tree punctured the roof of Mager’s barn, and now he can barely get inside to check on his belongings.

“Trees through the barns, fence damage, docks are destroyed,” said Mager.

Thankfully, no other buildings were damaged in the area.
