Two Vermont women accused of possessing heroin after traffic stop

 ALBANY, N.Y. – Two Vermont woman have been arrested after they were allegedly found to be in possession of drugs during a traffic stop.

On Monday around 10 p.m., State Police say they pulled over a vehicle on I-87 on Exit 24 for moving violations.

Upon investigation, the driver, 33-year-old Heidi Hutchins, and her passenger, 26-year-old Felicia Ackley, were allegedly found in possession of heroin. Police say they secured more than 120 grams of heroin, one hypodermic needle, and a plastic straw containing heroin residue. 

Hutchins has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell, both felonies. She is also charged with possession of a hypodermic instrument, a misdemeanor.

Ackley has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and criminal possession of a narcotic drug with intent to sell, both felonies. She also faces a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh. 

Both women have been arraigned and remanded to Albany County Jail.
