NEW YORK – The Pownal woman who went missing Monday was found Tuesday evening just over the New York state line.
Around 7 p.m., Vermont State Police observed a woman matching the description of the missing person report emerge from a wooded area on Route 346, about 200 feet from the state line in New York.

Sweet told police she purposely laid in the shade near the Hoosic River and slept during the day and chose to start walking when it cooled off.
The 71-year-old was showing signs of dehydration and had several blisters on her feet but was in otherwise good health, police said. Sweet was brought to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for a medical evaluation and was reunited with family members.
