Washington County man accused of growing cannabis in his yard

SALEM, N.Y. - A 58-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly growing cannabis in his yard, say authorities.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, on Monday NYS ENCON responded to a residence for an illegal burn complaint, when the officer observed multiple marijuana plants in the yard. 

Officers say they arrested James Allen, for Unlawful Growing of Cannabis, Criminal Possession of Marijuana, a felony, and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. 

Allen was arraigned in the Village of Salem Court, in lieu of $6,000 cash bail.
