Police: Suspicious death ruled a homicide

TROY, N.Y. - The suspicious death authorities were investigating on Monday morning in Troy, has been ruled a homicide. 

Troy Police received a report of a possible deceased male inside a third floor apartment around 4:20 a.m. Monday. Authorities then spent most of the day at the scene of 603 Second Avenue.

The man, who has been identified as 54-year-old Robert Rivera , was not the only person inside the apartment at the time of the report. Police said they are currently interviewing witnesses, and they said no one has been arrested.

Rivera has been staying in Troy the past couple of months, and he has family in Yonkers, according to authorities.

Troy Animal Control was on the scene Monday, removing two dogs and one cat, from the third floor apartment.

Police are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

There are no further details about the investigation being released at this time.
