MANHATTAN – A first-time assemblywoman is stepping down from her position after she fell into legal trouble with federal authorities.
Gabriela Rosa from Upper Manhattan pleaded guilty Friday to lying to immigration authorities about her marital status as well as making false statements over a bankruptcy petition.
The 47-year-old’s guilty plea means she will have to step down from office, and she could serve up to a year and a half in prison.
