Vermont man arrested for lewd conduct

BENNINGTON, N.Y. – Police arrested a Bennington man Friday for lewd and lascivious conduct.

The Bennington County Special Investigations Unit was contacted June 16 in reference to an attempted sexual assault that occurred around 1 p.m. behind the Tire Warehouse in Bennington.

The victim said 25-year-old Justin Jarvis made sexual advances toward her, but she refused. He then pulled her by the hand into the wooded area behind the business and held her there for some time.

The victim said Jarvis proceeded to touch her in a sexual manner, exposed himself to her and forced her to touch his genitalia.

Police said the victim got away, met a relative in the parking lot and told the relative what had occurred. The relative contacted police.

Jarvis was arrested Friday at the Bennington Police Department. He is scheduled to appear in Bennington Criminal Court on June 30.
