FONDA, N.Y. -- State Police in Fonda are investigating an early morning collision which claimed the life of a 27-year old Amsterdam woman Friday

Katy M. Peterson, 27, of Amsterdam, was travelling north on Midline Road in the Town of Perth at approximately 6:10 a.m. After stopping at a stop sign, she continued northbound on the same road.

A second vehicle driven by Schuyler P. Duross, 24, of Johnstown, was travelling east on County Route 107 and failed to stop at a four way intersection, resulting in Duross’s vehicle striking Peterson’s vehicle at the driver’s side door.

The Coroner responded to the scene and pronounced Peterson deceased. Duross was transported by private vehicle to be evaluated at the local hospital.

No tickets or charges have been filed at this time and the fatal collision is still under investigation by officials, including the Troop G Collision Reconstruction Unit. The roadways near the intersection of the collision were closed for over 6 hours to allow investigators to map the scene.
