Dog attacks workers at local humane society

MENANDS, N.Y. – A dog attacked four workers at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society Thursday.

Director Brad Shear said the dog was in bite quarantine for another incident that brought it to the humane society and was about to be released back to its owners.

Shear said it is protocol to give a dog a rabies shot before being released back to its owners. This is when the dog bit the technician.

Three other employees came to the aid of the bite victim when they were also attacked. Shear said all four were treated for their injuries, and he believed one was still in the hospital.

The dog was put down after biting the workers.
