State of Emergency issued in Halfmoon

HALFMOON, N.Y. – A State of Emergency was declared in the town of Halfmoon.

The order took effect at 3:45 p.m. Thursday by town Supervisor Kevin Tollisen. The state of emergency was issued due to major flooding that occurred as a result of a rain even that lasted several hours.

The affected areas include Northwood Development and Woodin Road south of Grooms. Tollisen said roads, infrastructure and residents would be affected.

Tollisen said the situation threatens the public safety, and the state of emergency would remain in effect until a subsequent order issued by the supervisor.

Tollisen directed all town departments and agencies to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, pubic infrastructure and provide emergency assistance as deemed necessary.
